SILINDILE IN REGION V DARTS UNDER-15 TEAM

MBABANE – Darts sensation Silindile Mathabela has been named in the Region V Darts Under-15 girls’ team.


This follows the KaLamdladla High School pupil outstanding performances at the recently ended Region V Darts Confederation Youth Championships in Germiston, South Africa. 14-year-old Silindile forms part of a four-man team from Region V that will be called for training as plans are underway for the African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region V selected teams to face the best from the rest of the continent.


Silindile helped the local female under-15 team get bronze and also bagged a silver medal in the doubles category, where he teamed up with Lindo Khoza from Mhlatane High. The Swaziland National Darts Association (SNDA) sent four teams, Under15s and 18s in both Boys and Girls categories to the games. SNDA President Michael ‘Scara’ Gama and General Secretary Phumlani ‘Kofi’ Ndwandwe headed the youngsters’ team. Other countries that participated in the games are host South Africa, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Namibia among others. The team returned last Saturday afternoon through the Ngwenya Border Gate. Ndwandwe said they were proud of Silindile’s achievement and also the performance of the rest of the teams at the championships.


“We would like to send our sincere appreciation to the parents for supporting the children and indeed the future of darts is bright,” the SNDA General Secretary said.
