MBABANE – It was no brotherly love as two Manzini Wanderers fans engaged in a fist fight during Sunday’s MTN League triple-header dose at Somhlolo National Stadium and were sentenced for public disturbance.

The two, Samkelo Motsa (30) and Sibusiso Motsa (34) of Lwandle in the Manzini region, were involved in a physical confrontation following their side’s 1-4 defeat to rivals Mbabane Highlanders as the MTN League finally got underway in the past weekend. They appeared before Mbabane Magistrate Sifiso Vilakati yesterday morning where they were charged for ‘public disturbance’ and were sentenced to eight months in jail.

The commotion between the blood brothers got nasty immediately after the final whistle of their side’s match, even attempts by fellow supporters to separate them failed, prompting the quick intervention of police.

One of the two endured heavy bleeding through his nostrils and was attended by paramedics before he was taken to a police van where they were whisked to the Lobamba Police Station. After spending the night in the cells, they appeared at the Mbabane magistrate court yesterday.

Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Khulani Mamba confirmed the arrest of the duo. “Yes it’s true and both were taken in for public disturbance,” Mamba said. Wanderers National Supporters Committee (NSC) Chairman Majayivane Dlamini called for calm in the Wanderers family.
