LOBAMBA – With a month to go, reigning Imbube marathon champion Sifiso Sibandze is already salivating on the prospect of defending his crown.

The mega sponsored marathon powered by Swaziland National Provident Fund (SNPF) returns for its second edition on October 8.
Sibandze’s heroics, which saw him bank E50 000 for winning the 42km race and being the first Swazi athlete to cross the line, earned him a move to Correctional Services Athletics Club, a move that comes with the prospect of a lifetime job opportunity.
Sibandze was previously registered under Golden Foot Club.

With the fear of fatigue, Sibandze participated in the lesser 21km in Saturday’s FSRA marathon.
“I will try and defend Imbube and I’ve noted massive improvement in my running. I decided to go for the half marathon here to avoid fatigue, as we have less than a month before Imbube marathon,” Sibandze said.
Sibandze came at an overall disappointing sixth place in the FSRA half marathon, clocking 1:09:19 hours.
