MANZINI – He did it again and this time in style, leading from start to finish.

A determined Veli Dlamini beat over 100 runners in the Epilepsy Run to win the 10 kilometres race which started and finished at Manzini Club yesterday. The second edition passed around places like Mangwaneni bypassroad, Mavuso, Zakhele Prison, and meandered around Bosco Skills Centre and Coats Valley before heading straight to Manzini Club Stadium.

The Umbutfo Swaziland Defence Force (USDF) athlete finished the race in 31:25 minutes ahead of his team-mate Melusi Khumalo who clocked at 31:55 minutes. Park run six time winner Nkululeko Gama came third on 32:15 minutes.
“I am happy that I managed to defend my title although I could not beat my personal best as last year I finished the race within 29 minutes. I think this was due to the fact that I had participated in the Buy Cash Golden Foot Run yesterday (Saturday) where I finished third at 35 minutes,” Dlamini said.

USDF’s Khanyisile Hlatjwako was the best finisher among other ladies who participated. She clocked at 39:41 minutes while Royal Swaziland Police’s Winile Mnisi came second on 39:57 minutes with USDF athlete Nozipho Sibandze completing the top three brackets on 40:45 minutes.

In the 5 kilometers category RSP’s Colani Mkhabela came first at 17:19 minutes while USDF‘s Nomvula Ntshalintshali reigned supreme in the ladies section clocking at 21:27 minutes.
Gracing the occasion was Deputy Prime Minister Paul Dlamini, Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs David ‘Cruiser’ Ngcamphalala, Swaziland Epilepsy Organisation National Director Mbusomuni Mahlalela, Athletics Association of Swaziland (AAS) President Gideon Mthembu among others.
