MBABANE – Will Mbabane Highlanders prove a training base for its elite rivals’ players? That is the million dollar question the club’s supporters will be asking themselves when they learn that their target, Mlamuli ‘Mlaba’ Nkambule is still a Manzini Sundowns player. Ahead of today’s Swazi Telecom Charity Cup 2017 play-off, Sundowns have registered the player through the latest FIFA Connect registration process.

“Mlaba was entered into the FIFA Connect system as a Sundowns player but the registration is incomplete because there are missing documents including his D-form and identity card,” said a source close to the matter.
An official at Sigwaca House also confirmed the latest news saying it was an interesting one because the player was still with Highlanders.
“But what I heard is that he hasn’t been cleared yet which is why they entered his name into the registration system. If he gets cleared, then Highlanders will have all the documentation for his proper registration,” said the official.
Highlanders PRO Paul ‘Magidzeludzakeni’ Masilela also confirmed the latest.

“I am shocked right now because I was told by a Sundowns official they entered him into their registration and I’ve also tried to ask around from some officials at the FA offices. So far that’s what I’m hearing but I don’t have much to say as I believe my superiors are nearly done with the player’s transfer,” he said.
The issue was among topical issues between present PROs yesterday at Malindza during the soup kitchen project handover after its completion a year later since SPTC started its construction. The player, when asked if he knew anything, expressed surprise but said he had no comment.

Sundowns Chairman Mark Carmichael said as a team, they were ready to release the player as he was also keen on leaving to join Highlanders.
“It’s quite interesting but I want to believe there must be a mistake somewhere, especially because the registration system was still new and could be causing problems for officials. We can’t take responsibility for the error but acknowledge there could have been a mistake somewhere,” he said.
He said Sundowns would not stand in the way of any player wanting new adventures and Highlanders approached them for Nkambule who they expect to clear before end of next week ahead of the Charity Cup spectacular.
