‘BULL’ IN E35 000 GOSHEN FEE

MBABANE – If Mbabane Highlanders parade midfielder Gabriel Goshen in next Sunday’s most anticipated Swazi Telecom Charity Cup 2017, then they will have paid for him.

Sources close to the matter have said an amount around E35 000 is what Highlanders have agreed to pay as compensation fee. This, according to our sources, is consequent to the fact that the midfielder had already been expected to join another top elite side.

“Seeing to it that the player was interested in joining Highlanders, we saw no problem pulling out of the deal in which we had agreed to compensate Tambuti around E30 000. Highlanders also acted professionally and approached us. In the end, we told them our side of the story and both parties agreed Highlanders can have him but still pay compensation and they put it at E35 000,” said a source from the other involved party.

However, the third party did not want to be involved in this matter, insisting it was now between Tambuti and Highlanders. Worthy of mention is the fact that Goshen was at the end of the season back in May loaned to Mbabane Swallows for the duration of their historic Total CAF Confederation Cup campaign which ended abruptly in the group stages, a step away from the knockout stages.
However, after the loan spell, Swallows cleared him back to Tambuti even though some had expected he would be signed permanently, especially following Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) midfielder Papy Kabamba’s successful trial with Tanzania’s Young Africans where he won a two-year contract.

“I have not got any latest briefing from my superiors on the Goshen issue but I am aware that at some point, the negotiating team was referred to a certain club before anything could be concluded. Currently, I have not got any report on the matter but when it is all done, I believe the Highlanders’ family will know well in time,” commented the club’s PRO Paul ‘Magidzeludzakeni’ Masilela.

He assured their supporters that the club was working around the clock to present a strong and competent team this season starting with the one day Swazi Telecom Charity Cup spectacular. Goshen was recently valued at E100 000 but his club had said they would not stand in his way so long as the right channels were followed. Contacted again yesterday, Tambuti’s PRO Nathi Dlamini referred questions to the team’s Chairman Rudolph Matsenjwa.

“As much as I would like to divulge information on these matters, I can’t right now. If I did, it would jeopardise talks as we’re currently addressing the issue and until it is finalised, I have got no comment,” Matsenjwa said.
However, he diplomatically wondered if any club would change terms just because the player was now with another team but without committing himself to the involved figures. Efforts to get Highlanders’ Board of Directors Secretary Zweli Jele failed as he did not answer his phone when sought.
