LOBAMBA – Sitsebe are sweating blood ahead of the COSAFA Women Championship.

Mduduzi ‘Sikhalo’ Nxumalo’s charges are in fulltime camp at the Technical Centre in Lobamba ahead of the regional showpiece to be staged in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, from September 13 to 24.
During a stop at their training session at Somhlolo National Stadium yesterday, the senior women national soccer team players were raring to go as they painted a picture of a team hungry for success.
The side’s gaffer said a majority of the players managed to shed off extra weight, as focus was getting them slimmer in the first three weeks of training.

“We are now working on their speed endurance. Next week we will hit the gym. “To ensure the players get international games exposure, we’ll play a pick team from Johannesburg on Saturday (tomorrow). We hope to have more international games before we leave for Zimbabwe,” said the former Malanti Chiefs coach.

Team skipper, Sibongile Ngwenya, also said the spirit in camp was high, assuring that the team would be in shape ahead of the international assignment. “The nation should rally behind the team and we will give it our best shot,” she said. The games will put Sitsebe in the spotlight again following a notable absence in international assignments. On the FIFA charts, they currently appear in the category of inactive teams.
