MBABANE – With karate being the university of discipline, 2017 Shihan Memorial Championships champion in KwaZulu-Natal Linda Dlamini is not about to grow a big head over his success.

The former Mr Swaziland winner was part of the Oyama squad that did duty in South Africa’s annual Shihan Sabela Memorial Kyokushin Championships and won the tough Open weight division championship.
“We got invited to Gauteng soon after that tournament so anything regarding the European Championships in Spain will be determined in September when we honour the South Africa invite. Otherwise, I feel in good shape but wouldn’t rush to talk about how I hope to perform in Spain before Gauteng,” he said when questioned about the championships in November.

Dlamini described his victory in Kwa-Zulu Natal as one of the best highlights of his career. The 4th Dan Black belt is renowned for his fierce kicks and fists as well as his acting around inside the fighting arena – which fans always fall in love with as he goes on to openly challenge his rival to bring it on and call for the crowd to rise up for the action.
He was the only winning Swazi in the tournament as Jabulani Hlatshwako was 4th in under-80kg and Joy Ononogbu came 3rd in the Ladies Open weight division respectively.

Oyama Association’s Sensei Bongani Ndzabandzaba confirmed the Gauteng invite saying it would help them ahead of the European Championships in Spain.
He also announced that to ensure they keep the athletes fit and also share the experience to the rest of the members they will be having joint trainings every Saturday in Manzini and Mbabane starting this weekend.
