MBABANE – A Facebook crook pretending to be Mbabane Swallows striker Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa has been reported to the police and network provider Swazi MTN.

The ‘crook’ used the same name as the reigning MTN League Player of the Season and would allegedly time and again inbox some of his friends, borrowing money and giving different reasons from petrol money, airtime and rent among others. The ‘crook’ downloads ‘Sikhali’s pictures and uses them on his account in the cybercrime incident.

Not knowing, people, mostly football fans, would send money to an MTN number via Mobile Money. As a result, ‘Sikhali’ has had people in town asking for their money back in loans that he was not aware of.

The goal-a-game striker has warned his friends and Facebook followers of the ‘crook’ in a post recently saying ‘can someone who is a friend of this guy who is busy calling himself SABELO SKHALI NDZINISA tell him to just stop whatever he is doing ngeligama lami because uyangihlambalata and you people please be careful ngaloyo bhuti uyangidzina nje’.

The undercover Facebook user never answers the phone number he uses to have money sent to and MTN has involved the police in the matter after the forward reported the matter to Mbabane Police.
The player confirmed the matter when reached yesterday. ‘Sikhali’ awaits making a big money move before the beginning of the season with South African Premier Soccer League (PSL) his highly likely destination.

Information sourced from search engine google describes cybercrime as an offence that involves a computer and a network. Cybercrimes can be defined as; “offences that are committed against individuals or groups of individuals with a criminal motive to intentionally harm the reputation of the victim or cause physical or mental harm, or loss, to the victim directly or indirectly, using modern telecommunication networks such as internet (networks including but not limited to chat rooms, emails, notice boards and groups) and mobile phones (Bluetooth/SMS/MMS)”.
