MBABANE – Highly rated University of Pretoria’ striker Thabiso ‘Drogba’ Mankekoane could be the latest bird in Mbabane Swallows’ nest.

The 26-year-old is expected to join ‘The Birds’ next week for training.
A source close to the matter confirmed that Swallows were in negotiations with the highly rated striker in South Africa.

Swallows players are currently on a week break, especially the players who were part of the national team, Sihlangu. The club’s General Manager Sandile Zwane said he was not aware of the player and there were lot of players that were coming to the club to try their luck.
Mankekoane is a former player of clubs including JDR campaigning in the ABC Motsepe League, Maluti FET College where he was the vice captain and Mountain Lagies.

Swallows want to boost their squad as they will be campaigning in the CAF Champions League after they were crowned the MTN Premier League without losing a match.
Zwane said some signings were being handled by the team Director Victor Gamedze.

He said currently, they had given their players a break to refresh after what was a long season. He said they would resume training next week and during that time, they would be busy taking on their targeted signings.

Swallows were active throughout the off-season as they were campaigning in the CAF Confederation Cup. The red and white outfit made history by being the first local team to reach the group stages of the tournament. They finished third in the group of four teams ahead of South Africa’s Platinum Stars.
