LOBAMBA – Sihlangu Semnikati coach Pieter De Jongh must pack his bags and be on the next flight home.

This was the unanimous submission of Members of Parliament (MPs) yesterday, who said the mentor had brought nothing but shame and embarrassment to the country.
Each of the MPs submitted that the Football Association (FA) must immediately re-engage the local former national coach Harries Madze Bulunga to take over the team before more damage was done.

This was during the debate of the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs 1st Quarter (April- June) Performance report for the Financial Year 2017/18 by the Portfolio Committee, which was chaired by Nhlambeni MP Frans Dlamini.
“Nimucosha nini lobabe loya, akati lutfo. Coshani lomuntfu abuyele ekhaya kibo sitosale sitibonela,” was the submission made by MP Frans,  loosely translated; “when are you firing that man because he is clueless. Fire him so that he can go back home and we will find our own solution.’

The chairperson wondered about De Jongh’s past, asking whom he had coached before and how many games he had won.
“We are going back to Shakes Mashaba’s days when we were a laughing stock and everyone used to beat Sihlangu,” submitted the Nhlambeni MP.
He said he had read a newspaper report where the coach was quoted saying that Zambia had been too strong for them. “What kind of coach says that?” the MP asked.

Joining the bandwagon was Zombodze Emuva MP Titus Thwala, who said De Jongh’s credentials were not clear, which in vernacular, he said “akukhanyi”.
He told the Minister, David ‘Cruiser’ Ngcamphalala, that when they questioned the coach’s credentials they were fed some story about technicalities.

“People are after results in football, all you need is a win, this team structure business and all is none of their business as all they want is good results,” said MP Thwala.
He said instead the ministry had fetched a highly questionable somebody who was making the team lose yet he was being supported by the ministry and other football bodies.
“Bring back ‘Madze’, it won’t be an embarrassment to fetch the former coach, akalandwe,” said Thwala. He said there was an old parable which went ‘never change a winning horse’ and that the ministry should use it.
