MBABANE – Manzini Wanderers and Manzini Sundowns will pocket E50 000 each for featuring in the inaugural Bible Society Cup.

The tournament, which will be staged at Trade Fair Ground next Saturday (August 5), is part of the Bible Society’s commemoration of 20 years since the launch of the siSwati version of the Holy Book.

The main attraction on the day will be the Manzini derby, which is set to get underway at 3pm. Well informed insiders from the teams revealed that the two Premier League sides would pocket the said amount as participation fee.

The game is mainly a friendly, but the teams will be incentivised on top of the trophy that will be up for grabs on the day.
In separate interviews, team officials chose to play their cards close their chests when sought for comment on the figures.
“It’s confidential between the teams and the society, but there is an incentive involved.

“We can only encourage the supporters to come in numbers to boost chances of keeping the sponsor on board.
“Supporters should just grab their Bibles and head to Trade Fair Ground,” said Sundowns PRO, Muzi Matsenjwa.

Supporters should just bring their siSwati Bibles to gain free access to the games. Tournament PRO, Mduduzi ‘Mr. G’ Ginindza, said those without the Holy Book would get it at the venue from as little as E85.

“Supporters that will come early could win Bibles. There will be a jumping castle and face painting to keep children entertained,” said Ginindza.
Meanwhile, the programme for the festivities will kick-start with a showdown between Bible Society and Voice of the Church (VOC) social teams at 10am. Mbabane Pastors will take on their Manzini counterparts two hours later.
Players from the teams that are linked with a move to other sides are expected to feature in the tournament.
