SUPPORTERS ‘GRAB’ CAR FROM GM

MANZINI – Manzini Wanderers supporters demand that the team’s Corsa van should be used by team head coach Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe.

Supporters won the team the car through the scrapped Swazi Telecom Charity Cup voting exercise more than five years ago. It was mainly used by team General Manager, Patrick Gamedze in the past season, but a decision to give it to the team’s gaffer was taken by the supporters in their meeting at the Manzini Library on Saturday.

Newly-elected National Supporters Committee (NSC) Chairman, Majayivane Dlamini, who chaired the gathering, had highlighted their discontent on the ‘uncertainty’ on who should use the car.
Apparently, the vehicle was recently offered to the coach but he reportedly said he would only accept it when the right channels were followed in the handover.

Gamedze, when contacted yesterday, said he was in no position to comment on the issue since as far as he was concerned, the team’s structures for the new season, except for the coaching personnel, were yet to be announced.

Meanwhile, the loyalists have to wait longer before the dust over the leadership of the side settles. Yesterday’s meeting was supposed to be a follow-up on last week’s gathering held at The George Hotel in Manzini. Resolutions of the last meeting were headlined by the decision to recommend Patron Reverend Percy Mngomezulu, to take over from the current directors comprising Bheki Shongwe, Sandile ‘Chief’ Dlamini and Peter Mathaba.
