MATSAPHA – The future looks brighter for the PLS Development which last Friday honoured its products in the elite league – six players got the PLS Chairman Victor ‘Maradona’ Gamedze’s honour.

Among these players was Manzini Sundowns’ star, Figareitho Justice and Mbabane Swallows’ duo of Richard Mccreesh and Sizolwethu Shabalala. They were honoured along with Young Buffaloes’ striker Sanele Ngcamphalala, Manzini Wanderers’ midfielder Wethu Vilakati and Royal Leopard’s Phumlani Shabangu.

Each of these players received E1 000 cash during the PLS Development Awards held at Esibayeni Lodge, for both the Esibayeni Lodge Under-17 League and PLS Reserve/Under-20 League. PLS Development’s PRO Dumisani ‘DU’ Sibandze, said the chairman who was not present on the day was grateful that already the country was reaping its fruits in only four years into the project.

NFAS’ President Adam ‘Bomber’ Mthethwa congratulated the PLS, Esibayeni Lodge, the champions and the rest of the teams that made the two leagues a success. He assured that the NFAS would continue supporting the PLS in the under-20 league, with its annual FIFA Youth Football development funding.

“It’s good that the under-17 league already has Esibayeni Lodge but as the NFAS we also help in the Under-20 League. Sooner or later we will see under-13s and 15s leagues also running like the two by the PLS,” he said.
He said they would also consider channelling part of the funds to the regions or host soccer festivals around the country.
