HOPE HOUSE LIKE A HOTEL – ‘CRUISER’

MANZINI – It is certainly the best place for the sickly given its cleanliness. No wonder Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Minister David ‘Cruiser’ Ngcamphalala yesterday likened the Hope House to a hotel.

This was during the first community visit marking the start of the Swazi Telecom Charity Cup ahead of the games on August 20 and 27 at Somhlolo National Stadium. The Hope House, as beneficiaries of the Charity Cup, hosted clubs, supporters, Swazi Telecom management and staff, PLS and FA officials as well as PLS Development players.

The project for the day was to clean the yard, also check on the adopted House K by Swazi Telecom, plant vegetables in the garden and also plough some space to grow new grass. All was done well with everyone having the energy to help and by 11:30am the job was done and complete.

“I am grateful to have visited this place and I am also taken by its cleanliness. Where we come from, some of us don’t have homes as clean as this. The Hope House is amazingly clean just like any top hotel you can imagine,” Ngcamphalala said in his brief address after touring the houses at the Hope House and also planting some lettuce seedlings in the garden.

Ngcamphalala said meeting some of the patients made him realise that visiting such places makes one realise the importance of helping out and encouraged Swazi Telecom to continue with this support while also urging other companies to copy and contribute towards places like the Hope House as they cater for all terminally ill Swazis in need of medical attention.

“It’s been 16 years that the Charity Cup has contributed and changed lives of many underprivileged Swazis and now we can look forward to another 16 years so we can all as a nation thank SPTC for doubling the time in charity work,” he said.
He said as government, they were also trying to assist where they could but it should also be all companies that come in and lend a helping hand.
