MBABANE – The new Mbabane Highlanders boss must be prepared to fork out E1.5m per season.

The fallen capital city giants are currently searching for a new managing director to lead the team this season as they attempt an overhaul in the playing personnel to restore the country’s most successful side in history’s pride. Incumbent Board of Directors Chairman Zweli Jele said their arms were open to any Highlanders person with the capacity to pump the said amount.

“We need E1.5m investment for the upcoming season but any Highlanders person can come on board,” Jele said when asked about the kind of director Highlanders wanted and the investment needed.

Jele, along with his board compromising Deputy Senate President Ngom’uyayona Gamedze, Lobamba Lomdzala Member of Parliament Marwick Khumalo and Lucky Mahlalela have been keeping the Highlanders ship afloat after Bheki ‘Rubber’ Simelane’s resignation last year October. The board oversaw Highlanders relegation in the past season, for the second time in the team’s rich history.

Names have been named on the streets but South African businessman Ally Kgomongwe has headlined reports in recent times along with Thando Shabangu but the right candidate is yet to be known.

Jele continued that under the circumstances, they were willing to invite as many Highlanders people to join the directorship structure which can stretch to up to 12 people.

“We are looking at having 12 directors and when the team’s new constitution is finally approved, we will be ready to vacate office,” he added.
