MATSAPHA – If one individual can be paid up to E90 000 commission for selling mobile money, then Moneni Pirates’ latest partnership with MTN Swaziland is set to roll in the cash for the club.

The partnership, which follows that between the MTN Swaziland and Matsapha United, was sealed yesterday at Esibayeni Lodge.
“We did the same partnership last week with Matsapha United and now it’s Moneni Pirates. This is open to all our teams but obviously there are those who lead the way and we’re proud to have got Moneni Pirates too,” said MTN’s Meshack Maseko.

He said in their 15 years in football as a company, they have noticed that local teams had one challenge which was financial in nature.
“Most people wondered why Swallows dominate football here but their response is that it was all about money. So as MTN Swaziland, we want to give that to clubs without them paying a cent for it through our Mobile Money service,” he said.

He said MTN Swaziland pays E2 500 at the least as commission to the people selling this service and a maximum E90 000 currently so there was revenue to be made. He said in Europe, clubs were run by supporters by pumping in the bulk of the money before directors lead and maintain order for them.

“It’s high time Swazis also follow suit and the good thing here is that it all comes at no cost so it’s not to enrich MTN but the club. Your Mobile Money number as Pirates is 76224466 and whatever deposit is made here, will go to the team as is without any costs,” he explained.
