MBABANE – The biggest kept secret at giants Mbabane Highlanders is finally out of the bag.

The Times Sunday Sports Desk can reveal that Malian national Alou Badara is the new Mbabane Highlanders coach. Badara joins the ‘Black Bull’ on a one year deal after his contract with Tambuti expired at the end of the past season. He will be introduced to players along with new signings, reportedly seven when the fallen giants resume their pre-season training tomorrow afternoon at Ezulwini Sports Ground.
Close sources to the deal confirmed Badara signed on the dotted line and has been mandated to guide the team back to its glory days with a big transfer kitty prepared for him to assemble the best possible squad.
When reached, Badara confirmed the deal and said he was up for the task.

“I’m ready for it. I know that it is a big team but I’m not new in coaching a big side. I’m at Highlanders to deliver and win trophies with the teamwork starting from management, players and supporters, down to my technical team. With the help of God we can bring back the glory days of such a great club,” Badara said.
Badara’s first assignment will be the Swazi Telecom Charity Cup slated for August 27 where he is expected to have hit the ground running with season preparations starting tomorrow.
Unconfirmed reports have linked Highlanders with big signings like Moneni Pirates trio of striker Mfanufikile ‘Fash’ Ndzimandze, midfielder Bongani Ndzimandze and full back Menzi ‘Magawugawu’ Simelane along with out of contract Manzini Sundowns midfielder Mlamuli ‘Mlaba’ Nkambule.

Badara is also not new to Highlanders as he led the club temporarily in its preseason last season before Malawian Meck Mwase took over to start the season. He is also the coach who masterminded Highlanders’ downfall to relegation and further knocked them out of the SwaziBank Cup and Ingwenyama Cup while with Tambuti.
Highlanders’ Chairman Zweli Jele could not comment on the issue but insisted they would unveil new players and their coach at training tomorrow.
