MATSAPHA – Matsapha United will receive a quarter of a million Emalangeni as participation fee in the second edition of the Mpumalanga Transversal Cup.

The elite newcomers have been invited to the 2017 edition to be played at KwaNyamazane Stadium, Mbombela on July 23. The ‘Deep Blue Ocean’ will open the day’s action against Mozambique giants Maxaquene at 10am before South African football powerhouse Orlando Pirates play Mbombela United in a noon kick-off with the winners set to face-off later at 4pm.
Matsapha Director Sipho Shongwe confirmed the figures entailed in their contract for the tournament slated for the city of Mbombela in South Africa.

“The contract states we will receive E250 000 as participation fee,” he said.
The Mpumalanga Transversal Cup was launched last year and the soccer festival forms part of the Nelson Mandela Month commemorative events run by the Mpumalanga Province.
Chief Organiser of the tournament Rio Mabunda said they have added Mozambique side Maxaquene to involve as many municipalities from other countries within the region to be part of the festivities which now adds Matola and Matsapha. “The committee has gone for Matsapha United because they are the future of Swazi football. It is amazing for a recently formed club to have good structures like theirs and we hope to have continued relations with them as a team,” Mabunda said.
