MBABANE – Manzini Wanderers are free to operate as an association as long as there will be no interference from Elders and supporters in the administration of the club.

In a mass meeting, which was sanctioned by the High Court and held on June 3, supporters voted for the side to be transformed from a company to an association. Following the resolution, National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) CEO, Frederick Mngomezulu, met the team’s structures on Wednesday to explain the implications of the new set-up.

Team Director, Sandile ‘Chief’ Dlamini, said the NFAS allowed the change to an association, but it was categorically stated that supporters and Elders had no say in the administration of the club.
“According to the correspondence from the FA, under the association set-up, the team should have a director or directors for the sake of accountability.

“The internal structures, especially Elders are advisory bodies that are not expected to run the affairs of the team,” said Dlamini.
Initially, the presentation was expected from recommended legal expert in Premier League of Swaziland (PLS) Executive member, Mduduzi ‘Tsotsi’ Mabila, but the latter recommended Mngomezulu to avoid a conflict of interest.

The presentation was needed to ensure conformity with the dictates of CAF Club Licensing in administration of the club.
The developments will be communicated to the supporters during a general meeting in the next few weeks.
Meanwhile, Dlamini said the team would start their pre-season training on Monday and the side would remain under the guidance of seasoned gaffer, Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe.
