SSSA BRANCH EXECUTIVES IN HOT SOUP

MANZINI – The SSSA General Assembly yesterday sent its National Executive to deal with its branch executive members for what they termed ‘glaring wayward behaviour’.

Members of the Swaziland School Sports Association’s (SSSA) 15 branches count up to 75; with five branch executive members in each, but only four attended Thursday’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Salesian High School Hall. The issue of poor attendance from branch executives was raised with concerns in the last AGM, whose minutes were approved by the membership.

Members accused branch executives of holding office for personal gain rather than the development of the child in sports by merely neglecting administrative duties that included attending meetings like this one among others.
In response, SSSA President Celucolo ‘Dino’ Dlamini promised that now that the concern had been raised by the membership at the biggest meeting like the AGM, the National Executive would take action.

“Constitutionally, the executive has powers over branch committees, not the other way round. The romance is over since the very same issue of non-attendance or lack of thereof was raised in the last AGM.
“It is true that there is a big gap between the National Executive and branch executives. Constitutionally, branches are under the national wing and it is an issue we are working on,” Dlamini affirmed.
