MBABANE – Sifiso Ngcobo is simply a competition unto himself in the Mbabane Parkrun.

This follows his fourth consecutive triumph in the sixth edition of the weekly 5km park run which was held at Mbabane Club yesterday.
This time around Ngcobo did what he has been failing to do in the past four runs as he broke his personal best time. He clocked at 16:33 minutes as compared to his previous time of 16:45 minutes.
Speaking after the race Ngcobo said it was due to thorough training with his colleagues.

“You know I train with some of my colleague here in Mbabane whereby we run over 10km.
“This is the reason it was easy to achieve this because we feel like 5km is not a big deal. However, my target is to finish in 15 minutes and I am very positive I will achieve that next week,” said Ngcobo.
Coming second was namesake Sifiso Vilakati in 17:14 minutes with Phendulani Zulu on third spot in 17:40 minutes.

Toping in the female category was first timer runner Linda Loffler who clocked in at 28:11 minutes while Alyssa Elliot came second in 31:02 minutes with Gabrielle Underwood on third clocking at 31:06 minutes.
Loffler said her target was to finish the race.

“It was a lovely experience altogether. The route is nicely marked which ensures that you do not get lost. Well what also attracted me into this race were the farm products that are sold here,” said Loffler.
Lean Drinkwater who was one of the race organisers (volunteers) said the race was a success.

“We have a new record in the Mbabane Park Run, we witnessed huge numbers in the children’s category and runners came to join the race with their families and pets.
The runners also supported those who were selling farm products and I can say the race was a success with 117 participants,” said Drinkwater.
