MAMBA FIRST SWAZI TO FINISH COMRADES MARATHON
MBABANE – Zithande Athletics Club’s Ntokozo Mamba was the first Swazi to cross the finish line in the celebrated Comrades Marathon.
Mamba crossed the line in 7:16:44 hours in the 86.7km from Durban to Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. He came in position 281 out of the 20 000 athletes who took part. Athletes who competed in the race came from all over the world. The winner of the race was Bongmusa Mthembu from South Africa in 5:35:34 hours, while second was Zimbabwe’s Hatiwande Nyamande in 5:38:48 hours.
There were over 50 Swazis who took part in the race under different teams.
The second Swazi was Blessing Kunene from Zithande and third was Mbonisi Mahlangu also from Zithande.
