MALKERNS – Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs David ‘Cruiser’ Ngcamphalala has counted cricket among the most improving sports in the country.

He said the inclusion of ladies cricket is what stands out for the association.
This was during the official opening of the Swaziland Cricket Association (SCA) bilateral series where the country’s Under-19 cricket team hosted Mozambique.
“Cricket is among the improving sports in the country and this makes me and the ministry happy as we see a bright future for the sport. The inclusion of schools in the sport is highly commendable because young people are the future to take cricket to the top.

“I am happy to see gender representation in the sport. The Under-19 girls’ tournament is a testimony to promoting women participation in cricket,” he said.
Ngcamphalala then thanked Mozambique for honouring the invitation and pleaded with the business community to support such initiatives that are meant to promote sports in the country.
Mozambique was the eventual winner of the tournament.

They went home with gold medals and a trophy presented to them by Swaziland National Sport and Recreation Council (SNSRC) Chairman Lawrence ‘Lolo’ Mthethwa, CEO Darius Dlomo, Development Officer Nicholus Dlamini, SCA President Sohail Khan, and SCA CEO Ronnie Egambaram among others.
SCA President Khan urged the local side not to be disappointed after losing to Mozambique.

He said on both days he watched wonderful cricket.
“I would like to thank the work put forward by Delisa. It was a short notice but he was able to come up with a good team that competed well against Mozambique despite losing,” he said.
