MBABANE – “Only the best team wins the league!”

These immortal words were uttered by the best football manager to walk on God’s green earth, Sir Alex Ferguson of Manchester United. And he was right. 19 wins; three draws and zero defeats is the amazing achievement of all-conquering Mbabane Swallows, who reclaimed the league glory after Royal Leopard won it three times in a row – from 2013/14 to 2015/16.

Besides winning the league title with five games to spare, turning the whole competition into a one-horse canter, the ‘Birds’ scored the most goals (58), conceded the least (15) and ended the league campaign unbeaten. Their 60-goal tally is not only the highest but could have even won the ABSA Premiership in South Africa where Bidvest Wits attained the same number of points in a 16-team league.
