MBABANE – He was not on the final list of players who were recommended to join the police service, and Xolani ‘Papi’ Sikhondze wants out of Royal Leopard.

A source close to the player has confided in this publication that Sikhondze, who joined early last season from Mbabane Highlanders, has made a formal request to quit the club.
“The player approached Leopard management after failing to secure a place at the Police College, that he intends to seek greener pastures elsewhere,” the source said.
It was revealed that the player was accompanied by his guardians at the meeting, and the police team is yet to grant him his wish.

Efforts to get the player to comment proved futile as his cellphone was constantly switched off.
A source at Leopard said the team encountered some technical problems when trying to enlist the player for enrolment at the Royal Swaziland Police College. However, Leopard PRO Frank Hurube, when quizzed on the player’s departure, said they have received an official request to quit by the player, without elaborating much.

“Papi is still our player, but I can confirm that he asked to be allowed to leave the club and I don’t think we are going to stand in his way,” Hurube said.
The player was among high profile signings in the recently ended season alongside Phephisani Msibi, Lungelo and Fanelo Tsabedze.  He was surprisingly left out of the CAF Champions League squad that lost to DRC’s AS Vita Club.
