LOBAMBA – Winners from each of the country’s regions in the Tinkhundla Football Tournament will take home E8 000.

The tournament to feature all the 55 Tinkhundla centres in the country will kick-off June 17. The draw of the tournament was conducted yesterday at the NFAS Technical Centre, Lobamba in the presence of Management Committee and Members of Parliament.
The runners-up will each receive E4 000 and silver medals. The champions will also take home a trophy and gold medals. The MC Chairman Johannes Siboza said the winners from the four regions, being Shiselweni, Lubombo and Manzini will then clash in the semi-finals and the best inkhundla will then be crowned the champions.

The tournament is sponsored to the tune of E20 000 and it was launched last year in October by the Prime Minister Sibusiso Barnabas Dlamini.
“All is set for the tournament kick-off and we are happy that the draw was conducted in front of the MP’s. We are expecting good behaviour from all the stakeholders and we do not expect protest as the games would be guided by the FIFA rules and regulations,” he said. The Tinkhundla Tournament was last played in 2006.
Siboza said to avoid travelling cost, each inkhundla will play its neighbour until the end of the tournament. He said the budget for the tournament was not enough to cover costs whereby the teams would travel a long distance.
