MBABANE – Relegated Mbabane Highlanders skipper, Xolani ‘Chocco’ Sibandze, has ‘passed a vote of no confidence’ in the current squad.

The ‘Black Bull’ are on their way to the country’s football second-tier for the second time in four years following a 1-3 loss to champions, Mbabane Swallows, in the decisive MTN Premier League fixture on Thursday. Reacting to the disappointing result, the speedy winger, who scored the consolation goal on the day, said the team should forget about surviving even in the National First Division if they would not bolster the squad.

“We need more experienced players and then blend the team with the youngsters. As it stands, we can’t survive even in the National First Division.
“Not all the players should be off-loaded,” said the Sihlangu winger.

In the National First Division, up to four teams are relegated to the regions.
More than half of the players are new at the side. A majority of them came on board midway through the campaign. ‘Chocco’, who was part of the squad that won back-to-back SwaziBank Cup titles between 2009 and 2010, is the only survivor in the team that got relegated on May 9, 2013.

“It has not been a good season. We have ourselves to blame for the situation we find ourselves in.
“I’m not comfortable on commenting any further about the individual double relegation,” said the likable player.
