NHLANGANO – A brace by Mpendulo Ngidi and a Zwakele Dlamini strike ensured that rookies Tambuti escaped the dreaded relegation axe.

This was during a MTN Premier league clash between the sugar belt side and Red Lions which was played at King Sobhuza Memorial Stadium yesterday where the latter lost 2-3.

The result means the hosts will be in the elite league next season thanks to an inspired Ngidi gallant side Red Lions on the other hand should be thanking their gods after Mbabane Highlanders lost 1-3 to Mbabane Swallows, this means the latter will be relegated if the proposed 14 team does not materialise.

Tambuti finished the league on 24 points, Lions on 21 points and the ‘Bull’ at 19 points. Manzini Sea Birds and Highlanders will give way to Matsapha United and Malanti Chiefs who have been promoted in the National First Division league.

Coming to the game, the visitors started the match like a house on fire as in seven minutes they were leading by 1-0 thanks to a goal by Solomon Oladele who dribbled pasted the opposition defenders to finish from close range.

However skipper Ngidi made it 1-1 in 12 minutes after he was set on goal by Zwakele Dlamini and he beat Mbongeni Motsa across the poles.
The Dumsani ‘Du’ Makhanya led charges came back strong in search of second goal but they were unlucky in the 19 minutes as Tambuti goalkeeper Thokozani Mkhulisi was forced to a brilliant save from Senzo Dlamini close range volley.
