SIHLANGU PLAY LESOTHO TODAY, SUNDAY

MBABANE – Lesotho senior football team Likuena Likuena are in the country to play Sihlangu in two friendly games, this afternoon and Sunday.


Both nations are preparing for the upcoming 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers where Sihlangu face-off with Niger in the opening Group J game mid-next month before travelling to Rustenburg, South Africa for the COSAFA Castle Cup.

The friendly games will not only be new Sihlangu coach Pieter de Jongh first test of international football as Sihlangu coach, but will help the Dutch national evaluate the pool of players currently in camp at the Football Association (FA) Technical Centre in Lobamba.
FA Communications and Marketing Officer Muzi Radebe confirmed the games and said venues and starting times will be determined upon the Basotho arrival later yesterday.


Radebe also sent the football mother body’s congratulatory message to CAF Confederation Cup participants Mbabane Swallows’ magnificent win over South Africa’s Platinum Stars on Tuesday.   
“The FA hereby congratulates Swallows for winning their group stage match of the TOTAL CAF Confederation Cup against Platinum Stars.


“The success of Swallows is very good for the country as the players get more international exposure, which will have a positive impact on the national team as some of the very same players are part of the country’s national team. Over and above this, their success markets our football brand and the country to the international community,” Radebe said in a statement.
