MANZINI – Sihlangu players were in high spirit after getting a bye to the quarter-finals of the COSAFA Castle Cup and boldly vowed to go for gold this time around.

The Pieter de Jongh drilled side will play the winner of Group B, which comprises of Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Madagascar and Seychelles. And the game has been scheduled for July 2 at Royal Bafokeng Stadium, kick off is at 7:30pm.
The team benefitted from their last season’s sterling performance in the competition, where under Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga they won a bronze medal from the tournament last year.

At the team’s two-week training, Royal Leopard defender Phumlani Dlamini, who was part of the squad last year said it’s through their hard work that they will join the tournament in the quarter-finals.

“We did well last year even though there was room for improvement. I believe that this time around we are going to the finals and that is what we want. We are ready for the challenge ahead of us and we are working hard despite that there have been changes in last year’s squad,” he said.

Sihlangu will be without Mbabane Swallows players in the tournament, as the club is campaigning in the CAF Confederations Cup group stages. Swallows will play South Africa’s Platinum Stars, a week after the quarter-final match.
