SFAX – He arrived barely two hours before the game but he was still full of praise for his courageous battalions after Mbabane Swallows lost narrowly 0-1 to Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien in the opening game of the CAF Confederation Cup Group B match.

Swallows multiple winning head coach, Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati said he has nothing but praise for his players for the spirited performance.
“Yes, I am disappointed with the result because it is three points lost here but I take my hat off for my boys.

“They played very well, especially in the second half such that had we converted our chances and been awarded the two penalties, we would be talking of a different result here today,” Vilakati said.

He said having arrived late and not having time with his players might have caused the poor start in the game.
“In the second half, I realised we were giving them too much space in midfield and we worked on that, then began to put pressure on them,” he said.

Vilakati said given their home record, where the ‘Birds’ are unbeaten for five years now, he has confidence they will overturn the 0-1 deficit.

“It’s a known fact that I arrived late and didn’t have time with my players but after the first half, we noted our weaknesses and worked on them. They took my instructions and we performed better,” he said.

He added: “I fancy our chances in the second leg if we do proper preparations. But focus now will be on the next match against South Africa’s Platinum Stars,” he said.
