MBABANE – National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) President Adam ‘Bomber’ Mthethwa and his counterparts across the continent will bank US$20 000 (about E280 000) as compensatory allowance from newly-elected CAF president Ahmad Ahmad.

Delegates at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Extraordinary General Assembly on Thursday approved by acclamation the amendment of the budget to allow the implementation of the programme of CAF President Ahmad according to CAF online.

During Ahmad’s election on March 16, 2017, the CAF president granted a subvention of US$100 000 (about E1.4m) to each Member Association, consisting of US$20 000 (E280 000) as compensatory allowances for the president of the associations, US$50 000 (about E700 000) for youth football and US$30 000 (about E420 000) for the support of match official indemnities.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino and General Secretary Fatma Samoura attended the CAF Extraordinary General Assembly, which saw an increase of seven for African members in the FIFA Council as stipulated in the FIFA Statutes.

The CAF Extraordinary General Assembly preceded the 67th FIFA Congress in Manama, Bahrain where FIFA’s 211 member associations descended. The country was represented by Mthethwa and General Secretary Frederick Mngomezulu at the congress and they are expected back home today.

In the Congress, FIFA’s supreme body made a few important decisions to validate reports on its activities in the previous year and, more importantly, to agree on key steps for the future of the organisation.
