MBABANE – CAF Confederation Cup envoys Mbabane Swallows will play their next group match against South Africa’s Platinum Stars during the week as scheduled.

The record-breaking capital city giants, who are away in Tunisia for their group opener against CS Sfaxien today, had requested the continental football body to shift the match to the last weekend of May.
Mbabane Swallows General Manager Sandile Zwane had announced the appeal for a postponement on national radio’s Sports Show programme on Monday.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is said to have turned down the proposal, categorically stating that the schedule remains fixed.
The National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) also confirmed that it learnt about the red and white ensemble’s unsuccessful bid.

Following the latest developments, the MTN Premier League grand closing tentatively set for next weekend is likely to be postponed. Premier League of Swaziland COO Pat Vilakati said a correspondence on the way forward would be communicated after a meeting with the relevant stakeholders.

Swallows, who will play Mbabane Highlanders in their last game, can end up playing two games in three days if the league deciding matches can be played next Sunday.
