MBABANE – With tough opponents Niger coming up for the national team Sihlangu next month, new coach Pieter De Jongh yesterday named 37 players for the next camp to last three weeks.

In a press briefing yesterday at Sigwaca House, De Jongh, who was in the company of his assistant Anthony Mdluli and Team Manager/Security Manager Danka Fakudze, had only one new name in his team in striker Simanga Shongwe of Midas Mbabane City.
This time around, he has also included the Mbabane Swallows players, who missed the first training camp recently which lasted for a week at Lobamba’s FA Technical Centre.

“As you know we are going to Niger with the important AFCON Qualifier set for the weekend of June 9-11, we saw it prudent to announce the team to go to a three-week camp from next Monday until June 2,” he said.

He said in-between the camp, they would use Saturday and Sunday as rest days before resuming again every Monday until June 2. After the last day of camp, he will then announce his final squad for the last preparation in Big-Bend on June 5 before they travel.
Also named in the squad are Democratic Republic of Congo’s (DRC) based Swazi internationals in Mthunzi ‘Xavi’ Mkhontfo and Felix Badenhorst of AS Vita respectively.

“I expect every player in the list to be available and long gave the FA Board my plan, which includes these players’ availability but you can talk to the FA CEO when he returns from Bahrain. I want all the players as soon as possible,” he responded when asked if the duo would be part of this camp given they were also engaged in the CAF Champions League.
