MBABANE – Champions Young Buffaloes midfielder, Sandile Gamedze, will smile all the way to the bank after starring in the #Yelele edition of the SwaziBank Cup.

The former Madlenya FC player was named the tournament’s best player, pocketing E13 000 after yesterday’s prize giving at the bank’s auditorium in Mbabane. His earnings shot up to E17 000 as he had bagged two Man of the Match awards worth E2 000 each.

The player, who switched from the National First Division side to Buffaloes at the end of the 2014/15 campaign, was joined on the podium by likeable gaffer, Dominic Kunene, CEO Sandile Gwebu, as the side swept the boards. The latter was named the best PRO, pocketing E7 000 while Kunene walked away with E8 500.

Team lanky forward, Phiwa Dlamini, also collected his E5 000 for being the joint top goalscorer with Mbabane Swallows’ Sabelo ‘Sikhali’ Ndzinisa. The players netted six goals each.

Meanwhile, the 28-year-old, who is a brother to Matsapha United full-back, Sabelo, said he did not expect to be named the best player.
“There are good players in the team. Players like Phiwa Dlamini could have easily won it.

“There is no looking back from here as I want to shine for the national team in future,” said the 2014/15 National First Division top goalscorer, who scored 20 goals.

Coach Kunene also said he was humbled to get his maiden coaching award, saying producing podium finishers was a welcome change. He dedicated the accolade to the entire Buffaloes family.
