SFAX – Welcome to hell Mbabane Swallows!  This could not be more truer for the country’s CAF Confederation Cup group stages representatives Mbabane Swallows, who will not only have to bear the uphill battle of facing top side CS Sfaxien in the opening round of the CAF Confederation Cup group stages 2017 but have to also withstand a hot as hell searing heatwave which can even reach 38 degrees Celsius on any given day.

Yesterday temperatures stood on body temperature of 36 degrees Celsius. On Saturday at the 11 000 seater Taieb Mhiri, owned by the winners of the Caf Confederation Cup in 2015 CS Sfaxien, the red and white glamour side must brace themselves for a hostile capacity crowd  in the 11 000  seater stadium but also hot temperatures that could even hit the 40 degrees Celsius.

Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati’s charges who are due to jet in here from Dubai will have only a few hours to acclimatise before taking on the ‘Juventus of the Arabs’ founded on May 28, 1928 (as Club Tunisian) tomorrow in a clash that has been reverted back to a 8pm kickoff (9pm local time) by CAF.

The Nestor Clausen coached side have won the Confederations Cup two times in 2007 and 2008. They have been runners-up two times too, in 2010 and 2012 while Swallows became the first Swazi side under new format to reach the group stages.

Club Sportif Sfaxien have won the strong Tunisian league titles eight times, while the Birds will officially be crowned league champions for the sixth time next week.
