MBABANE – Top female golfer Nobuhle Dlamini has maintained her cutting edge on home turf.

The South Africa-based golfer was back on familiar territory between Wednesday and Saturday for the Investec Royal Swazi Open at Royal Swazi Golf in Ezulwini. She was among six Ladies Sunshine Tour campaigners in chase of a share from the E100 000 purse.
After a fourth gruelling round on Saturday, Dlamini ranked second – just seven points behind winner Ashley Buhai from South Africa to net E25 000. The champion pocketed E40 000.

Other ladies were South Africa’s ace golfers, Stacy Bregman, Bertine Strauss, Nicole Garcia, and Namibia’s Bonita Bredenhann.
Despite mixed fortunes, Dlamini had home supporters eating out of the palm of her hands on day three when she closed the gap on Buhai on Friday.  She fired a five-under-par 67 that featured a trio of birdies at the first three holes and further gains at seven, 12, 17 and 18. Her flawless round earned her an extra E5 000 from the daily incentives to bring her total earnings to E30 000.

The former South Africa’s number one female amateur golfer had sounded excited ahead of the decider when she spoke to this publication.
“I’m playing well,” she said briefly.

The event was played under the modified scoring system, with the highest (eight) points for an albatross, which represents three strokes-under-par on a single hole.
Meanwhile, in the men’s section, Peter Karmis from South Africa fired a three-under-par 69 final round to win the tournament with 49 points.
