EZULWINI – Members of the African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5 Executive Committee from all member states have descended in the country for a two-day meeting.

During Thursday’s official opening of a two-day meeting, the AUSC Executive Committee through Chairman Vetumbuavi Veii implored Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs David ‘Cruiser’ Ngcamphalala to whisper to His Majesty King Mswati III their intentions to work closely with the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) in sports and culture development. The King is the incumbent chairman of SADC.

Veii said if possible, they will appreciate the opportunity to seek audience with the King, something that is highly unlikely as he is currently away in Durban, South Africa for the World Economic Forum.
It is expected that in the meeting, AUSC will deliberate on how they intend to work with SADC in sports and culture development.

The Executive Committee is a decision implementing organ of AUSC. Members of the Executive Committee are people holding senior positions equivalent to a national director level and also involved with sports in their respective countries and chairpersons or Chief Executive Officers of National Sports Council or Commissions.

The country is represented by the Director of Sports in the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Mangaliso Simelane, Board Chairman of the Swaziland National Sports and Recreation Council (SNSRC) Lawrence ‘Lolo’ Mthethwa and SNSRC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Darius Dlomo in the deliberations.
