MANZINI – Some people are born for stardom and former Mr Swaziland Linda Dlamini is one of those.

He is not alone as Phumlile Methula also fits in. The duo were able to defend their national titles in the Oyama Kyokushinkaikan Karate National Seniors Tournament.

It was held at the Bosco Skills Centre in Manzini last Saturday where at least 89 fighters including juniors battled it out.
Dlamini, who has been national champion in the openweight division since last year, had to defeat Mcolisi Mngometulu, a green belt, in his first fight and never looked back.

In the final, the 3rd Dan black belt artist fought a tough Vusi Dlamini but his international experience and physical fitness came in handy.
He is certainly a man of steel, who also wins the crowd over with his fierce kicks and play in the tatami (fighting ring).

For his achievement, he added yet another trophy to his shining career that has also seen him represent the country in Japan, last year.
In the ladies Under-70kg division, Methula’s star shone brighter once again when she beat a resilient Khululiwe Hlophe who is one bright prospect for the sport.

Methula was also presented with a trophy. She has also represented the country well beyond the borders.
