MBABANE – It would seem winning against Manzini Wanderers was not on the menu last Sunday for Mbabane Swallows given incidents that preceded the MTN League clash, which ended in a 2-all stalemate.

The red and white outfit are not having the best of days outside the field of play following their multiple award-winning acting CEO Sibusiso Manana’s sudden collapse at the Somhlolo National Stadium inside the tunnels just before the match kick-off.

Before this unfortunate incident, which saw him rushed to an unnamed hospital, Manana was involved in an alleged multiple car accident at the Lugogo Sun Hotel where some of the team’s officials spent the weekend. It has not been established how many cars were involved in the crash but it was not just one or two.Hotel management is said to have called the police over the crash but no immediate comment could be established from there as the person this reporter was referred to was out of her office when sought.

However, Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Khulani Mamba confirmed that Manana was involved in an accident with multiple cars at the Lugogo Sun Hotel in Ezulwini.

“The information I’m getting from Lobamba police is that there was an accident at the hotel involving multiple cars that were hit by the Swallows official. Investigations are ongoing but what can be confirmed is that several cars were hit and police were also trying to locate Manana but in vain,” he said.

Mamba then tried to get in touch with Swallows and got hold of the team’s General Manager, Sandile ‘Beyond 2000’ Zwane. “My officers had given the impression that there was no cooperation from the club but after reaching Zwane, I believe as police we also understand the situation especially when someone is very sick and in hospital so the matter will be dealt with once Manana’s condition has improved,” he said.
