MBABANE – Hub giants Manzini Wanderers defender Sihle Mkhonta is the best player in April in the MTN Premier League.

His efforts to assist the maroon and white outfit realise their dream of finishing in the top two did not go unnoticed as he was awarded with the E4 500 for being the most influential player. The 23-year-old played all Wanderers’ matches in April.

“It is my first award since I started playing in the PLS. I believe we did well in our latest outings, but as a team we did struggle a little bit. This award is directed to all my teammates and we hope to end the season on a high note,” he said.

Wanderers play Royal Leopard in their last game of the season and on Monday they settled for a 2-all draw against champions Mbabane Swallows. Mkhonta joined Wanderers from Bad Boys and he had been one of the key players in making sure that the ‘Weslians’ settle for a respectable position in the league.

Meanwhile, Malanti Chiefs’ South African striker Charles Molopo was the best player in the month of April in the MTN National First Division. He added one goal taking his tally to seven in the season to earn the E1 000 incentive.

“I did not perform to my level best this season and I hope I will improve. My target was 10 goals at least,” he said. The duo was presented with their replica cheques by MTN Swaziland’s Meshack Maseko and PLS COO Pat Vilakati.
