MBABANE – As he readies for his comeback from a career threatening injury for Mbabane Swallows and Basketball giants Jazz, Phindafuthi Dlamini has openly lambasted critics of him playing more than one sport.

The former Sihlangu striker is a man of many talents and is registered with all conquering Swallows in football circles while appearing for Jazz, where he is hoping to push them up the log ladder in the ongoing Swaziland National Basketball League (SNBL) sponsored to the tune of E200 000 by MTN.

Most often, the forward who previously wore the yellow and blue of Manzini Sundowns is seen in other sporting events like cycling and has come under a lot of criticism in recent years, amid his rise to supremacy. Though equally talented in all these sports, the public is of the view that Phindafuthi must concentrate on one code, something he is not ready to do if his blast on social media (Facebook) is anything to be considered.

“Yes I love sports, I just love all sports especially the ones I can play, of which are most sporting codes. I love it. If you are going to talk down on me for that or dislike me for that, or whatever you want to call it, let me step aside so you can do it freely. It does not bother me and it will never change me on how I view my sports. Never try to take sports away from me or make me choose,” the athlete wrote for his over 3 000 Facebook friends.

Phindafuthi who broke his right ankle last November is back training on his own and is expected to rejoin the rest of his Swallows teammates on return from Congo Brazzaville and to play a part in Jazz next SNBL fixture.
“I can run again, I can jump again, I can kick a ball again. I would like to thank Doctor Mazibuko who did my operation, my close friends for the support, my basketball team Jazz for their words, patience and worries, soccer team as well for their concerns,” read his comeback message on Facebook.
