MBABANE – It just does not get any better for giants Mbabane Highlanders as fans expect nothing but a win against Tambuti in tomorrow’s SwaziBank Cup quarter-final clash.

The match is billed for the Somhlolo National Stadium tomorrow at 3.30pm. Having lost twice in a space of a month to the same team, first in rich Ingwenyama Cup and then in the MTN Premier League, the fans want nothing but a win.
As they say, there is no smoke without fire, the club’s Management Committee (MC) Secretary/PRO Mpumelelo Mnisi was yesterday morning at pains, appealing to their fans and supporters to be calm and accept results without causing trouble.

“We just appeal to the fans to be at the best behaviour on the day and support the team,” he said before he was cut short by the national radio SBIS’ Sport Show host Moses ‘Mthetho’ Matsebula.
However, he was called later on the day and questioned if there was any threat from the fans that they could lose their temper and patience should results prove bad.

“After the Wanderers’ game, our fans’ feeling was that we cannot afford to lose to Tambuti again, even making it known that if we get beaten, there’ll be trouble, so one has to be proactive and call for calm. You know how fans can be when results do not favour them and all we need to do is win the game,” he said.
However, he said they did not expect fans to be unruly if the result happens to be what they do not want, especially because they also had important games in the league where they must avoid relegation.

“The team is fine and preparing for the game with all its players, save for Junior who we all know about his matter,” he said before he knew Simelane was granted bail again yesterday by the High Court.
Efforts to get the team’s National Supporters’ Committee (NSC) Chairman, Kenneth Dlamini failed as his cellphone consistently rang unanswered. It is not a secret that when things do not go the way fans want at big clubs like Highlanders, things can get ugly.

It is only last October that a minority of the black and white ensemble’s fans attacked their then Director Bheki ‘Rubber’ Simelane, who had to be whisked out of the stadium by police. He later resigned from the club, leaving patrons in charge before they appointed directors led by lawyer Zweli Jele and those include MP Marwick Khumalo and Senator Ngomuyayona Gamedze among others.
