MBABANE – The coaching revolving door at struggling giants Mbabane Highlanders is in full swing.

Zimbabwean coach Herbert Maruwa is the latest coach who has been shown the exit door barely three months in charge.
Saturday’s defeat against Tambuti at the cabbage-like Mayaluka Stadium served as the last game for Maruwa, who reached a mutual agreement with the Highlanders Board, headed by top lawyer Zweli Jele, for the two parties to part ways yesterday morning. Former Manzini Sundowns coach Rodney ‘Stumbo’ Charles has been roped in to keep the fires burning.

Highlanders are dilly-dallying with the relegation chop and with five games remaining, they are second from the bottom and face a fate witnessed three seasons ago when they were demoted to the National First Division. On 14 points after 17 games, the country’s most successful side will face old rivals Manzini Wanderers, basement Manzini Sea Birds, security services sides Green mamba and Young Buffaloes before the derby against bitter sworn rivals Mbabane Swallows in the last game of the MTN League season.

Maruwa confirmed he was no longer Highlanders coach when reached yesterday, wishing the side the best of luck in the battle to remain afloat in the relegation battle.

“We mutually agreed to part ways after failing to achieve the mandate of collecting at least four points from the past two league matches. It was a worthwhile experience working for this massive team. I respect the directors’ decision,” Maruwa said.
