KWALUSENI – As the games got rolling at the BOLESWA Intervarsity Games, the University of Swaziland (UNISWA) netball team proved rather too good for their Lesotho counterparts, whacking them 34-27.

The game served as the first dish of the four-day long sporting programme following the official opening by Minister of Education and Training Phineas Magagula at the UNISWA Sports Emporium yesterday.

Never at any point did the National University of Lesotho (NUL) lead UNISWA in the four sets played on the day with 7-6 (first quarter), 14-11 (second quarter), 25-20 (third quarter) and ultimately 34-27 (last quarter) scorelines recorded on the day as the locals stamped their authority over the visitors.

During the official opening, Minister Magagula had shared with students His Majesty King Mswati III’s leading role in sports on the local front with initiatives that include the Imbube Marathon and Ingwenyama football Cup.

“These forums allow interplay between sport and culture and an outstanding participation of Swazis from all walks of life. The King’s participation in these forums is an indication of his commitment to lead a healthy nation, which should translate into a healthy region,” Magagula said.

The King is also Chairman of the Southern African Development Community (SADC). Also present during the games’ opening was UNISWA Vice Chancellor Cisco Magagula among other dignitaries.
