‘BIRDS’ MUST DO A ‘BARCELONA’ ON SUNDAY

My dearest readers ... Magical, breathtaking, miraculous, Hail Barcelona.

These are some of the plaudits that went the Catalan side’s way after the out-of-this-world 6-1 victory comeback from 4-0 first round loss by FC Barcelona over shell-shocked French Champions, PSG on Wednesday night.

The greatest come-back in UEFA Champions League history was a night of pure sporting heaven, of redemption, superlatives and manic celebration. I had just returned from an evening church service with my cousin, soccer commentator, Mabandla Bhembe when my younger brother, Lihle, the biggest Buccaneer I know, told me of a first half of pure bliss.

I managed to watch the last 30 minutes of what I can say without fear of contradiction is the greatest football game ever as history books were re-written.
I watched the entire repeat at 2am (I am a sucker for football). I concluded that indeed they do not call FC Barcelona Mes que un club (More than just a club) for nothing!

It was a reminder that nothing in this great game of football is cast in stone and most importantly, for good measure too, this amazing triumph is also a lesson in life to never judge a man by his first round! Heek, heek, heek, heek.
Now get your mind out of the gutter.

It is precisely the kind of bounceback ability that our lone CAF Confederations Cup representatives, Mbabane Swallows need to overturn the 0-1 loss they suffered on Sunday in Tanzania and advance to the next stage.
