LOBAMBA – Red Lions coach Dumsani ‘DU’ Makhanya has come to say that he is not the messiah after beating Royal Leopard 2-1 in the MTN Premier League on Saturday.

“Well, I am not the messiah here, the players deserve all the credit for getting the three points and I appreciate that,” said Makhanya.
When asked to explain why he substituted Senzo Dlamini for Enzo Motsa, he replied: “Senzo was tired and I thought introducing Enzo would ease the pressure since the opposition left back was overlapping and making dangerous crosses. ‘Nzo’ came in and he stopped those counter-attacks and on top of it, he scored the winner which was a bonus for the team,” he added.

Meanwhile, Royal Leopard coach Sifiso ‘Nuro’ Ntibane said they were unlucky.
“It was not our day and you could see that we played to our best but we couldn’t win. This is not good for the team and it is starting to worry me and we have to do self introspection as a team,” said Ntibane.
The mentor further said supporters should be patient with the team.

“We are aware that this does not augur well with our loyal supporters. We want to assure them that we will fix those errors and results will come our way. In football, there are three results; its either you lose, win or draw and our supporters have been good to us as they have accepted any results without resorting to violence,” said the former Leopard player.
The victory was vital for Lions as they moved away from the drop zone; they have amassed 15 points after 17 outings while Leopard remains third with 27 points after 17 games.
