MBABANE – The champion of the MTN Basketball elite league will take home a whopping E17 500.

This latest development was revealed by MTN Brand and Sponsorship Manager Fisiwe Vilane yesterday in a press statement.
According to the press release, runner’s up will pocket E10 000 while third and fourth placed will receive E2 500 each. In the individual categories, the most valuable player in the elite men’s league will be given E3 000 and best coach would be entitled to E2 000. In the National Women’s league, the champions will be E13 500 richer while runner’s up will get a consolation prize of E7 500 with the best player and coach taking home E2 000 and E1 000, respectively.

In the men’s promotional league, the champions are entitled to E9 000 while the second placed team will get E4 000 less compared to the first prize.
The best player and best coach will each receive E1 500 and E1 000, respectively.

Vilane said the league tip off would be graced by MTN top officials as well as representatives from SNRSC and the Ministry of Sports.
“From our end, we would just like to invite all basketball fans to come and attend. Entrance is free. There will be lots of activities even for MTN customers to win prizes such as data bundles, free airtime, saver combos and also MTN merchandise,” she said.

This is the first year that MTN has sponsored the league and the total sponsorship package is E250 000. Games will play on both Saturday and Sunday, but the main event is on Saturday. Games start at 9am on Saturday.
There are a number of interesting games to watch but one that will surely be a crowd-puller is Superstars versus Jazz slated to tip-off at 5pm.
