MBABANE – Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs David ‘Cruiser’ Ngcamphalala has beseeched Mbabane Swallows to win the Total CAF Confederations Cup and use the prize money to build own stadium.

After CAF announced bumper increments in its tournament’s prize monies late last year, Swallows stand to bag E16.7 million if they win the CAF Confederations Cup, a prize that shows an 89.39 per cent increment from the previous E8.8m.

Speaking yesterday when he presented the country’s sole CAF representatives with an E100 000 cheque to cater for their air tickets, Ngcamphalala implored the red and white giants to go all the way to the final and bag the millions.
“You are one step away from CAF millions and the nation is behind you to win the tournament. Since we have shortages of stadia, after winning the E16m prize, build your own stadium,” Ngcamphalala said.

He also paid tribute to the all conquering capital city giants for maintaining peace in their games as witnessed last Sunday despite suffering a jaw-breaking 2-1 defeat at the hands of Matsapha United in the SwaziBank Cup, the first since August 7, 2016.
“We hope you can also borrow government some of the money as it continues to undergo fiscal challenges,” he added.

Swallows will bank E3.6m for reaching the tournament’s group stages and if they progress to the quarter-finals by finishing first or second place in their group, they will be entitled to E4.7 million.

Reaching the last four will see the team take home at least E6m rising to E8.3m for being runners-up and ultimately E16.7m for winning the tournament.
